Scream 2

Scream 2 ★★★

"There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to create a successful sequel."

All-timer moment: the protagonist literally rigging a theater against the antagonist. As far as narrative downtime goes, outside of a few cleverly well-staged set-pieces (ex: the opening sequence & the soundproof booth), this has its lapses in quality; if not for the constriction surrounding its metafiction, then for the sequences plagued by a lack of engagement. Both issues derive from Williamson's mostly lame attempts to appear clever.
