It didn't feel like 3 hours. I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. I was so invested in all of these characters especially with the quiet and introverted Misaki Watari. I wish I knew what book she was reading and if it gave any clues to who she is. The cinematography encapsulates the scenery of the mesmerizing winter in Japan every time they go on car rides where they go through tunnels that hypnotize you to keep watching. These…

24 hours later, and I still don’t know what to say. I stayed in my seat, watched the credits go as Elton John’s “Skyline Pigeon” played over it, and couldn’t stop thinking of the last scene. Aftersun

    ★★★★½

With little dialogue and beautiful long takes, Aftersun cherishes memories of the bond and relationship between a father and daughter as they enjoy a summer vacation together. Even though this film doesn't show a lot, especially when it cuts to the present day, it shows you long, soft scenes of past memories of these two characters talking and doing small summer activities together. You can feel that there's this invisible gap between them even though they're completely enjoying each other's company. Wells shows you enough about this relationship to make your heart to shatter in pieces.
