I guess I should stop looking forward to things and lower my expectations. It hurts not to love this because there is a lot here to love, but it is also incredibly flawed. The opening ten minutes are a revelation and the entire film struggles to bear the weight of its brilliance. It went to some pretty wild places, but at times it was quite a slog to get to them. I'll settle for enjoying the conductor telling me to wait whilst he conducts. I'll try and forget about those terrible E! News style segments. It's ambitious and courageous and I'm glad that it exists, but I won't be rushing to watch it again.
