The French Dispatch

The French Dispatch ★★★½

Beautiful to look at, funny, possibly the greatest cast in any movie ever, and filled to the brim with infectious enthusiasm.
At the same time, there’s also way too much going on in any given moment to not feel overwhelmed at least occasionally. I think I need to see this 2 or 3 more times to begin to take in most of what is going on.
Depending on what you’re looking for, that’s a quality or a flaw. I look forward to rewatching this one regularly, but the first experience was a bit much and sometimes started to become a blurred sensory overload.

Makes you want to get a subscription to the New Yorker or some local equivalent for sure!
