    Where Evil Dwells

about as oppressive as a film can get, though what saves it from being dull and mind-numbing is how cheeky it can be at points. these kids KNOW that they're being transgressive for the sake of being transgressive, and smartly, they own up to it. though it gets a little monotonous towards the end, and it's clear that these are just people fucking around, the lo-fi aesthetic this film inhabits is endearing, and serves the scenes well. the bit with the puppet is hilarious, especially juxtaposed with scenes as genuinely horrifying as the campfire murder.
