Hail, Caesar! ★★★★

This was way more enjoyable on the second watch. The set-pieces are incredibly vibrant, giddy, and sincere without sliding into the self-satisfaction of something like ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD, a slice-of-life movie recreating a specific era of Hollywood filmmaking which left me cold.

I was still left at a bit of a loss as to the ultimate point beyond “Joel & Ethan Coen love the Golden Age of Hollywood and wanted to do an homage; also, movies are God”, but maybe that’s enough.
