This is a perfectly fine and entertaining film. I was impressed by Date Night. I didn’t have high hopes for this but thought there was potential for it to be a good action comedy. It almost hits the sweet spot in being impressive but it never quite gets there. The cast is game but the big let down is the villain. The villain is boring and uninteresting. It was hard getting onboard with that part of the film but the adventure getting there was worth the ticket.

Straw Dogs 1971
This is an unpleasant film but it’s got a lot of disturbing energy. It shows humanity at its worst and asks some difficult questions of you. Susan George is really good in this is all the grief and untold trauma she has that she never tells her husband because frankly she thinks he won’t care. Dustin Hoffman plays the unloving husband who doesn’t seem to care about his wife unless he wants to use her. He treats her like a kid and she acts like that back. The ending is one that baffles me and says a lot about masculinity.
