Aaron Hendrix’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is not a joke, Moonlight has won best picture
I obviously love La La Land. My profile picture makes [update: made] that clear enough. However, my love for La La Land does not preclude my love for Moonlight.
And, to see Moonlight win best picture tonight was a beautiful and brilliant recognition of a voice(s) so often left unheard. Moonlight is a voice that reminds us that compassion and empathy are the greatest gifts we possess. It's about displacement and not feeling like you fit in anywhere, even when you should be able to fit in everywhere.
It's a tender reminder that voices suppressed should never be voices unheard. And, tonight, that voice was heard at least for a moment.
