My review of Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread is now posted in full on talkfilmsociety.com.
But PTA's latest bites with a Handmaiden-esque darkly comic tone. It's a film as lush visually as it is complex dramatically. Though I don't think it has joined the ranks of PTA's best - The Master and There Will Be Blood, IMO - this is one of the most rewarding films of the year and I can't imagine seeing two better performances in another 2017 release.
So, if you're thinking of making a trip to the theaters this New Year's holiday, make it Phantom Thread. You won't walk out disappointed.
