Bend It Like Beckham 2002
2002ness of it all led to an awkward non-commit to a gay arc, and had to throw the moist man in there and make him a bit of a groomer to boot. Otherwise sick soundtrack, lovely slice of life of desi 2000s London.

The Stranger 2022
The stranger falls into the familiar tropes of Aussie cinema- natural/ under exposed lighting, lots of greys, and big beautiful wide shots and a gritty underworld story.
However the performances are incredible and great care has been taken into immersion, so the procedural never feels fake. A stand out in this film for me was the sound design- dreadful drones and strange fluttering really set the tone.
