  surreal and cynical with occasional glimpses of camaraderie, these temporary states of comfort and familiarity within the general space of unwelcoming exterior set its pacing with checkpoint-like changes of settings as they travel the river, in which a few of these checkpoints, riddled with their own sense of security and safeness (real or false or flimsy) further pull you, helplessly, into the madness.

  yeah i was on the edge of my seat once or twice, not because of screen tension or investment in the film but because i was almost falling asleep. the concept and style of execution of this film would’ve made it soooooo embarrassingly easy to pull off such a creepy and uneasy experience and nightmare fuel (while still maintaining the aura of liminal experimental slow-burn) that the audience wouldn’t even be able to sleep for a few days and instead…
