teetered between finding the 70s pastiche too hokey and also sort of loving the folk song twee-ness of it all! perfectly charming movie that still didn’t enamor me as i hoped but could see it growing on me more with a holiday revisit. paulie g wonderful, dominic sessa debut a revelation, and as someone who was in the high fidelity hulu adaptation cancellation trenches, it’s especially delightful to see da'vine joy randolph light up the screen with such a warm, quietly devastating performance (and i will continue to pine for her season that never was)
