Erik’s review published on Letterboxd:
willing to forgive a lot of the “silence, liberal” missteps of the May 68 vignette because the sheer magnitude of filmic joy and compositional care and gut-busting hilarity of the writing and slapstick (my soul left my body when a prisoner is thrown from the back of a plane mid-flight as an interrogation tactic and slams to the ground perfectly unscathed) on display completely overshadows any ideological shortcomings imo.
Much like with Darjeeling Limited, I feel like folks initially dismissive of this will no longer consider it “lesser Wes” after a few years have passed. Supporting Noms for Brody & Benicio (or better yet, a feature length standalone) NOW.
