    Sundance 2022 Film #6

This is one of the most upsetting films I've ever seen. Rebecca Hall is absolutely phenomenal and, after The Night House and this, I hope she does several more psychological thrillers. Tim Roth plays possibly the most disgusting villain I've ever seen in a film, and he's truly incredible. The way this film presents themes of trauma, abuse, and the horrors of gaslighting made my skin crawl. This is a very unpleasant film, and it's a great one at that.

Absolutely riveting. This is a very intense and claustrophobic film that feels like a horror film at times. The close camerawork puts you in the headspace of Anne, and brings you into the isolation and emotional pain she's going through. There are a couple of scenes in this that genuinely disturbed me and I will never forget them. The performances in this are all excellent, and really sell just how depressing and lonely this situation is. Another excellent film at Sundance, and one I highly recommend.

This is my last film at Sundance for this year, and what a great way to end it! Piggy is a very unique horror film that's also a coming of age film and a bit of a weird love story too. As a larger person myself, I know what it's like to feel uncomfortable in your own skin and to be made fun of for it. The way this film handles that and the moral dilemma…

Absolutely breathtaking. A thoughtful sci-fi meditation on humanity and what it means to be alive. Feels like a Yorgos Lanthimos film in many ways, which is always a good thing. The subtle world building brings this world and these characters to life, and the concepts of death and grieving are expressed elegantly. The way this film communicates the beauty of life brought me to tears, and I cannot recommend this film enough. See this as soon as you can, it it truly stellar.

    Sundance 2022 Film #2
While they introduced this movie as "the most unpleasant movie ever made," I had a really great time watching this. It's nowhere near as depraved as I expected it to be, and most of the runtime is a mildly uncomfortable buildup to the finale, which is worth the wait.

The subtlety of how this movie conveys social anxieties, and how they can be controlling and make people do things they aren't comfortable with, was very well…
