I knew DRIVE was ripping off something... I just didn't know what it was until now. This was kind of uneven in structure and doesn't really justify its runtime, but it looks so beautiful and the soundtrack is great.
What a complete waste of everybody's time and energy. Utterly devoid of tension or atmosphere. Poorly plotted, with so little story to tide us over that inconsequential subplots are peppered in anywhere they'll fit. Lacking in any imagination, the film fills that void with endless buckets of blood that end up turning this into the most gratuitously violent film of the year. People are stabbed, drilled, impaled, shot, and burned, and you're not made to care about a single one of them. Almost unilaterally terrible performances see people delivering poorly written dialogue as though it's Shakespeare. Michael Sheen is quite good. Absolute bollocks.
