This is just as competent as any other Marvel origin story?? I guess since there's a female heading it people care all the sudden?? It's fun and messy and there's a fight scene to "I'm Just A Girl," so I'm satisfied. Also the moment Carol breaks free and unleashes her powers is very reminiscent of Buffy's "Are you ready to be strong?" speech, which I love to death so that's also great.

side note: yeah, the feminism is pretty tame by today's standards, but it still works when it needs to.

I feel like none of these comedians needed a script this mediocre to make this hangout movie funny. A chuckle here and there but there's no meat to this. I'm also finding it hard to feel bad for privileged people staying at a gorgeous Napa Valley vacation home with seemingly no immediate financial problems.

It's glorification of violence and America. We are better than everyone else. We are heroes. It's a disingenuous cash-grab.…

Really great. It's a film that doesn't show all that's on its mind right away. It takes its time to tell something meaningful about humanity and war. The photography is absolutely stunning. It's easy to see Kubrick's precise direction. It's some of his best work. The execution scene gave me chills. The drums beating loudly, building up that abrupt crescendo is tension out the wazoo. Douglas is fantastic. I've only seen him in this and Ace in the Hole, but…
