Can anyone play the femme fatale archetype as unapologetically evil as Barbara Stanwyck does? 

On the same level of being entertainingly deceptive as The Lady Eve (a personal favourite), but in that film she has a heart. Stanwyck delivered her hard boiled dialogue to its fullest potential.

so haunting, especially where it eventually ends up.

This is that good good

Holds the power of a feature in just 6 minutes. Why watch all 2 1/2 hours of Metropolis when you can watch this pure Canadian gem?

Lots of wholesomeness imbued into such an honest film which grounds itself in reality.
