Just get high and get ready for a laugh. I seriously don’t even know where to begin.
Oddly enough, I liked it.
The genre, I don’t know — poetic documentary? arthouse parody? post-traumatic manifesto? — but it felt apropos.
I could have used even sharper, more startling cuts, to drive the dystopian topographic knife deeper. That could just be me, though.
Overall: well done.
I’m kind of disappointed... I was really expecting to like this, but I could already tell two minutes in that the beautiful cinematography, genius makeup and costume, enveloping sound design and original score would not be enough to salvage the terrible writing and, I presume, equally ineffective directing.
There are cases when bad writing can be saved by a good director and production team (e.g., The Untouchables, The Force Awakens). However, the fact that every single actor delivered their lines…
