Perry Cononge’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow. This left me speechless. All I could utter at the end was a slack-jawed “Whoa”.
An utterly scathing review of an industry with the capability to bring joy to so many, and yet tear so many more to shreds. And I loved every second of it.
The acting, story, writing, and pretty much everything else was unparalleled. Billy Wilder was absolutely fearless to tell a story like this, and I applaud the unflinching look at the toxicity that the dark side of Hollywood can breed.
I need to watch more classics, and definitely more Billy Wilder. An absolutely amazing cinematic classic that should be seen by all.
Also, two five star films in one day... did my birthday come early?
