The tragic thing about Dune is that it’s too good for it’s own good — people will praise it rightfully for being a miracle product that escaped the gross oversight of the modern studio system, but it will fail to find an audience big enough to guarantee a continuation of its story.

Hits you right in the cry muscles. Is this movie perfect? Nope. But it’s pretty damn close to it. Theatrical conclusions to television series rarely work because they have to play to a general audience and a audience of fans, and that’s a delicate balancing act. Violet Evergarden teeters on the former (there's approximately 30 minutes of setup here), but once it hits its stride, it's pretty damn close to perfect.
