Demon Slayer: Mugen Train ★★★★

Since I live in a country where the Kimetsu no Yaiba movie is getting a proper theatrical release, I caught a screening of it right after I finished work. I left the theater a hour ago and I just want to say that the movie is well worth the wait.

I'm up-to-date on the anime, but I have to admit that I didn't read the manga. I was prepared to just watch some well animated fights and to get my quick Kimetsu no Yaiba fix, but I was legitimately surprised by how much genuine pathos that it was able to evoke.

So come for the fights and stay for the pathos I guess? And do try to see this movie in a theater...Sure, it's probably made its money back by now, but I can't imagine not seeing this on the big screen, because it was definitely made for it. It might sound like heresy, but if Ufotable wants to adapt the rest of the series in feature-length theatrical releases, I don't think I would be against it.

Also, the sound mix in this movie is amazing. I don't know if it's because it's been a while since I've been in a movie theater, but I was genuinely taken aback from how good this movie sounds.

Since I'm not a manga reader, I don't know how faithful this adaptation is — but the megafans that cosplayed for the screening I was in seemed to like it, so I'm going to assume that it's a spot-on adaptation.
