Just now watched this for FilmCult.
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I just got added to a film club. They recommended this movie.
I think this is the only Disney Live-Action remake I haven't seen before? Anyway, I'm not gonna count it as one given when it came out and that it came out at a time where the reviews for Disney remakes I actually agreed with (as in, they didn't get overwhelming praise from the critics). Because as the reviews for this movie indicate, this isn't a good movie but it's not the worst thing in the world.
This movie took the personality and subtlety the original classic had, killed it, skinned it, and made it into a fur coat. Outside of Glenn Close's excellent performance, which arguably makes the movie, this is not a good movie. I do also like how the animals are all real and they don't talk though.
I don't recommend it, and it wasn't a good time for me. But it's not horrible, it's got some okay things as well as Glenn Close's performance.
4/10 (closer to a 5 than a 3)
(don't kill me for this rating, guys)
