I appreciate joseph gordon levitt’s voice study on edward snowden bc the whole movie is such a good imitation of how edward snowden sounds like in the hotel tapes (even tho he’s pretty animated in other, later appearances). the purpose of the movie is...a bit indiscernible. it’s like citizenfour with the power of a budget, playing pretend, and locations but it still doesn’t overcome mediocrity. but yeah it’s got some hamfisted handling of symbols and subplots and side characters. also it’s one of those rare times where the actor is kinda less attractive than the subject but jgl maintained a good amount of eddie’s sheepish charm so good for him....got pretty cornball as it neared the end but seeing the real ed I was like yes!!!!! love this!!!
