It’s just messy folks. A visual and aesthetic triumph for sure. It’s obviously a very lovingly crafted film. And if I were rating it solely on that this review would be so much higher.
But it’s just kind of a mess I think! Nothing is very consistent in terms of character motivation. Why do they stop caring about their friends being gone? Why do they continue to participate in the activities right after being traumatized by the first big event? …
Definitely wished I had seen this in high school. I probably would have looked past some of the stuff that hasn’t aged very well and then also maybe I would have been less of a square.
