Anthony’s review published on Letterboxd :
Never has it been more apparent to me the true power of great filmmaking. Not only is the story sweet and loving, but it is amplified by the brilliant camerawork. So many different techniques were utilized to enhance this cutesy story I couldn’t believe how well they were interwoven. Never jarring, always in service to the story.
I’m used to seeing directors with trademarks, such as Tarantino with his “Trunk Shots” and JJ Abrams with the “Lens Flares”. Those directors have no problem showing their hand at the expense of spoiling the story. Not with Amélie. Every cut and camera trick worked. Pretty blown away by this one. This picked me up out of my funk!
