The acting was great, and I would watch a crime series with this group so SO HARD, but... the story itself was disappointing. It seemed to be heading toward an emotional punch... but there wasn't one. There's even some implication that the murderer who preyed on disabled people was justified? Nahhhhh.
I just want to watch a good movie. I thought this was a safe bet.
Don't get me wrong. The acting is great. The cinematography is great. There are some interesting moments.
But I kept waiting for like... the rug to be pulled out and show that all of these apparently sexist and anti-Semitic tropes the film was using were y'know... being lampshaded or something? But no... no, they're just part of the film. Cool. Fuck this movie.
Wow. This is my kind of trashy flick.
The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars for me is the leading man. He was so dry that all of his scenes felt like they were there to pad out the runtime. Sorry, sir... This movie belonged to Kathleen Turner and Tony Perkins and their fucked up interactions. The boring ass domestic bullshit was just taking up time that could've been about them instead.
