Alex Holmes’s review published on Letterboxd:
David Byrne and David Lynch would work well together
Byrne is weird as hell, but also full of energy, and Demme captures that escalating feverishness perfectly. I don’t love the Talking Heads (I probably won’t be putting most of these songs on my playlist) but I respect their vibe. I really can’t find a word for the cinematography and editing other than perfect. It just flows.
It really would’ve paid off to see this in a theater, there’s just so much more that can be appreciated. I see how this influenced future concert docs, and it’s definitely good, but I wasn’t completely captivated
