Easily Campo's best film so far. Christine is another character study from the director but with a powerful performance from Rebecca Hall (Seriously she's incredible in this and so underrated) combined the beautiful direction that was in Campo's other two films, it becomes a far more raw & emotional piece.
I was cold on Afterschool & Simon Killer as I thought the films were ultimately kinda reluctant to let me explore the characters more. I didn't know much about Christine Chubbuck other than the main event of her story. Maybe having just that little bit of knowledge helped me get into this more but it still comes as a massive shock to the core when that particular event happens thanks to the pure tension and dread that Campos and Hall create with their skill & craft.
Just when I was wondering whether or not Antonio Campos was my cup of tea, he pulls a sneaky one on me. Hopefully The Devil All The Time doesn't disappoint!!!
