Alan Gunn’s review published on Letterboxd:
Some miscellaneous thoughts on the movie (which I really enjoyed!):
- Once again, I really vibe with the breezy, low-stake attitude of the MCU Spidey films, even if it is jarring after the events of "Endgame" (which they are QUICK to make fun of). Even with all the superheroics and big bad guy schemes, Peter's biggest obstacle continues to be getting his dumb head out of his insecure ass.
-Tom/Zendaya are just about the cutest things on two legs and my grumpy heart grew three sizes every time they were on-screen together.
- I feel like this is a film that would benefit enormously from repeat viewings. There's a lot of misdirection/sleight-of-hand in the first half that really pays off later on.
- Mysterio is FANTASTIC, but the true villain of this story is Brad. Dude makes Thanos look like a Good Samaritan.
- The mid-credit scene is the best film of 2019.
