Teddy’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is one of the most bat shit crazy films I’ve ever seen and truth be told it’s honestly not that insane for the most part. Just, Jesus Christ. This is genuinely one of the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given, it’s up there with the likes of La La Land, Pulp Fiction, and The Departed. The slow burn with very occasional bursts of horror that shook me to my core was just utter bliss, this is the kind of horror I want to see more off because it always makes whatever huge explosion happens at the end just that much better.
I know that there’s obviously gonna be the comparison between this & Hereditary and I’ll only add something that will be relatable to my fellow Brits. Why this is an 18 and Hereditary is only a 15 blows my fucking mind because the latter is way more traumatic in my opinion, not to say that this isn’t traumatic because it sure as hell as. I honestly think the most traumatic thing happens in the first 20 minutes, that’s where the most haunting image appears, to me at least.
Ps. Ari Aster, I hate you... and I want to have your children
