    ★★★½

Outlandish predicaments, soft pastels among a dreamlike haze, offbeat humour and deadpan delivery—the perfect ingredients for your friendly neighbourhood indie dramedy.

Here, they are all but ornaments on a gift-wrapped look into traumas that are seldom spoken about. It's painful, maddening, and deeply saddening.

Evan Rachel Woods sells it well, with Miranda July's devilishly clever storyteling at the forefront. I can't recall the last time I yearned to help, love, and care for a protagonist so much.

If this was uploaded to YouTube when I was 14, I would've been that kid who bookmarked it, watched it every night, and forced everyone who came over to watch it as well.
