What separates Lady Bird from other coming-of-age films I enjoy are its characters. We often have a blast with this genre because we’re treated to the overly quirky types, sometimes outlandish characters. Ones we wish we befriended growing up.
But Greta treats you with characters you know, conversations you’ve probably shared with friends and arguments you’ve actually had with parents. It might not strike a chord with every time but when it does, I’m sure it’ll hit hard. It’s all so real.
