Alex Moyler’s review published on Letterboxd:
Despite the amazing English cast, it's really very jarring to not have the animation match up with the voices. My English-speaking privilege is glaring through, absolutely, and this must be how the non-English-speaking world sees most films. But for a lot of dubbed films the voice actors work very closely with directors to match their lines as closely as they can to the original lip shapes, and for a few major characters in this it felt like they had just done a single take and left it at that. It's always going to be harder with 3D animation than 2D to get it looking natural but I expected more.
Anyway, rant over. I therefore watched this in the original French with subtitles and it was utterly wonderful. True to the original comic with brilliant animation and style. Reminded me of the recent Peanuts Movie for all the right reasons.
