The poetics of a collapsed Eden, a flower withers and a new one blooms. The power of friendship and compassion at the face of grief in a summer that never happened. Happiness and pain, purity and violence, water and fire, and life goes on. Sad and nostalgic in equal measures, a movie that reminded me of all the friends I made along the way, and everyone I lost. But I can remember them and their light will be kept alive. Didn't except to write this at all, but this makes a heartbreaking double bill with Gerwig's Little Women/Minnelli's Meet Me In St.Louis(it's your pick lol). Memory is a beautifully painful thing. Oh the tears. Perfect movie.
