favorite films are the last four movies that I rated five stars, to mix it up
Whisper of the Heart 1995
I love this movie and I love sharing this movie with people.
I watched Air last night while home sick in bed, and I didn't rate or log it because it's barely a movie. It's a $90m Wikipedia article that only exists because of the structuring absence of Michael Jordan. This has some of the same beats, sure, but it crucially also has stakes and conflict and at least a passing interest in what makes its characters tick. It's a little long and drags toward the end like many rise-and-fall narratives do, but Baruchel and Howerton have never been better, and the script by Matt Johnson and Matthew Miller is funny and sharp.
The Long Goodbye 1973
There is no surface on Earth that Elliott Gould can't use to light a match.
Grey Gardens 1975
watching this now is like watching ghosts making a movie about ghosts trapped in a house haunted by ghosts
