Alexander Grant’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm a huge sucker for Shinkai's work, even in the face of how cheesy it can get at times. Your Name feels like his most well-realised film yet when it comes to his usual topics of long-lost love and searching for something to fill that empty part of ourselves. It blends it humour and serious moments well and, of course, it looks drop dead gorgeous. There's not a tonne of character exploration but I feel the personality of the two leads more than makes up for that.
The simple story and predictable moments mean it won't be everyone's cup of tea but for me, thanks to the execution of these simple ideas, it was a superb watch from start to finish.
