I have literally never liked a movie less.
Ohhhhh man. Alright. I like to rate movies for what they are rather than putting them all on the same scale, so let me start with this is four stars of fun. There was not a moment of the film where I wasn't having a good time, namely because the cast is STACKED. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively pulling performances from entirely different genres together in choreographed clashes made for an engrossing and entertaining time as I mumbled theories under…
The only reason this film is missing half a star is because I'm waiting for Bo to top it with his next one. Wildly kind and empathetic, this movie shows what life is magnified (and isn't that what being 13 is anyway?). It's not nostalgic, it's about kids now, and as much as we love our kids, we should never forget how much it sucks to be one. It's a really beautiful film, and Elsie was the perfect actress to lead it.
