Can You Ever Forgive Me? ★★★★

While not as good as her later feature 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood', Marielle Heller's 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?' is still an excellent film. Melissa McCarthy's surprisingly great dramatic performance as Lee Israel and Richard E. Grant's as her charismatic friend Jack Hock paired with Nate Heller's beautiful musical score and the fantastic screenplay by Nicole Holofcener and Jeffy Witty, as well as Marielle Heller's superb direction bring all the aforementioned elements together into one terrific vision, made for a spectacular biopic about author Lee Israel's forgery days.
