"I hate beer commercials. They're so sexist."
I've been following director Haifaa Al Mansour since her first feature: Wadjda. I love her feminist take on things.
Nappily Ever After was adapted from a novel. It started off very standard. Sanaa Lathan plays Violet Jones, a woman who has it all together. It's almost too cliché how perfect her outfits and hair are. The hair of course took a lot of work. This film would make a good companion piece to the documentary Good Hair.
I mainly liked it despite the script running into a few bumps along the way.
Also, Judy stole the pool scene.
