This summer has been a summer of viewing firsts with my son and being able to watch him watch this tonight, see him get sucked into the human story just as much as the shark story, feel his iron grip and then his eyes on me wondering what was going to happen each time Williams' main theme would resurface and feel him jump out of his skin next to me at the very scenes that still manage to give me a missed beat of the heart no matter how many times I've watched it. What a treat it is to introduce not just a personal favorite, but a classic, and be greeted with, "Daddy, I loved it!" afterward.
Also, of course there is objectively no perfect film, yet this one right here somehow supercedes that. It is perfect. Perfect as only a perfect film could be.
