Jules and Jim

Jules and Jim

Week 24 of the Letterboxd Season 15/16 - Challenge

As soon as this film started I thought I would love it because of its similarities with Amelie, my favourite film of all time. The narration, revealing of thoughts (as someone else has mentioned in a review), and the scenes that actually appear in Amelie all made me so excited to see how this film would play out. But unfortunately, aside from the first third which I loved, I ended up disappointed.

One of my biggest issues with the film was that I really didn't like the character of Catherine. I disliked the way she behaved and treated other people, and she actually frustrated me quite a bit throughout the film. I also disliked the ending, but I will not go into any details so as to avoid spoilers.

The characters in the film did not end up turning out the way I thought they would in the end of the film, leaving me unable to relate to them and ultimately not enjoying most of the time I spent watching the film.
