Scream 2

Scream 2 ★★★★

With Scream Wes Craven perfectly utilised the post-modernism and meta-text to deconstruct the slasher genre while creating a perfect slasher film and so it’s only fitting that he weaponises the same idea but focusing on horror sequels with Scream 2. You’re constantly on edge looking out for clues for the new killer, with plenty of red herrings thrown in, and Craven knows all the cliches and tropes so he navigates the film expertly to keep you constantly guessing. All while combining these meta-textual elements with a frankly great sequel in of itself, paying homage to the first entry while building off the characters and their history to deliver something new and interesting.
