Eddie Murphy is my #1 favorite stand-up comedian. I have seen Delirious I don't know how many times. First time watching it I almost passed out from laughing so hard. I don't think I ever laughed that hard at anything in my life. He paved the way for so many other rising comedians. In my opinion he is the funniest, most talented comedian. He isn't worshiped for nothing. He is that good! Seeing him rise again here sure puts a smile on my face. I know nothing about the original film nor do I about the character of Rudy Ray Moore a.k.a Dolemite, but the film did a great job of introducing him to the rest of the world who don't know him. Loved the entire cast, except for Snipes though, he was a bit too much at times. Fairly funny, the passion was definitely there. If I had to pick something that stands out it would be the costumes. Designed by non other than award winning costume designer Ruth Carter. She is the genius responsible for some of the best costumes ever put in black movies. And it shows here. Dolemite Is My Name is full of jokes and heart. What you'd expect and a dash more.
