I don't know about some of this, but you better believe I was into it. What a romance movie would be if it were set in literal hell. There may be some signature Lynch quirkiness here or there and some insane lines of dialogue, but this still feels very dark to me. Cage is good but Laura Dern is fantastic, and Willem Dafoe is perfect as what you'd imagine "Willem Dafoe in a David Lynch movie" would be except 10x grosser. Love the visual style and the editing, it can't be mistaken for anything else.
It might seem like I just will myself to like his stuff, but it really is like a switch flips going into one where I'm willing to just roll with way more than I usually would
