I’m still smiling just thinking about this film. It’s an absolute joyride. A groovy blast from start to finish. This is probably the best biopic I’ve ever seen. Not one second of this film slows down, it never bores, it just keeps its energetic, pure hear, and soul from start to end.
God, I missed Eddie Murphy to death. The man has been gone for what seems like ages. Eddie Murphy is one of the best comedic actors of his generation and there won’t be anyone else like him again. Eddie Murphy shines in DOLEMITE IS MY NAME in a very special and magnificent way. Seeing him on screen, portraying Rudy Ray Moore, felt so magical to me. The guy looks like he’s having crazy fun and you can tell he wanted to give his whole hearted passion into this performance. For me, this is definitely award worthy, Eddie Murphy just made a gigantic comeback and in the most brilliant way possible. Eddie Murphy rules, he will always rule.
The film is just so beautiful. It displays a lot of heart that went into making a film like DOLEMITE back in the day. Not just DOLEMITE, filmmaking in general. This film broke it down the best it could and showcased how much work and effort and passion and heart goes into the art of filmmaking. It isn’t easy, it takes a lot of passion and the will to never give up. Rudy Ray Moore pursued to put his Dolemite character on the big screen no matter what and did whatever it took to make it happen. This film shows is just how insane the world of filmmaking is and why the world should look at it more than just a moving picture. They have to look at the art, the heart, and the passion that went into making a film.
DOLEMITE IS MY NAME is one of the most fun experiences I’ve had all year. This is one I definitely won’t forget, ever. I will definitely be rewatching this film because this is just an awe inspiring tale. I’m still smiling. I’m still feeling that Dolemite energy. I’m still feeling good about what I just witness. This is definitely a powerful film, no doubt about it. There’s something about that feels special. The way they put it together, the way every performance is well done, and the way this pays such a beautiful tribute to the legacy of Rudy Ray Moore.
I can’t get over this film. As I’m typing this up, I’m just smiling wide because of how great it was. This is a film that will live with me for a long time. As a young dude trying to make it in the filmmaking world, this film was inspiring on an insane amount of levels. I love the vibes, I love the heart, I love the passion, and I love the music. This film has some of the best music I’ve ever heard in a film all year, right up there with Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. It’s fun, it’s stylistic, it’s energetic, and it is one hell of a good time.
Overall, if you haven’t checked this out yet, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Watch this film. Enjoy it. Have that great food Dolemite fun and become inspired. This sure as hell inspired me. It made me feel good. The final scene of this film is just so perfect, so so so perfect. I nearly teared up, this is a beautiful film. An absolute excellent showcase of cinema. I wish this played in theaters near me, it would’ve been such a fun time. DOLEMITE IS MY NAME is most definitely a masterful biopic that I will never ever forget.
