You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.
There's La La Land, there's Call Me By Your Name, and there's Into the Spiderverse, but when it comes to films that are visually gorgeous, The Grand Budapest Hotel doesn't just take the cake, it takes the entire bakery. Wes Anderson made a gorgeous movie that's a joy to watch even without any volume. And with it, you have a fast-paced murder mystery comedy that doesn't really slow down until the end. The comedy is great, and the stupidity of the characters does aid that. All I can really say is I'm not at all surprised this is part of the Criterion Collection.
