The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse ★★★★½

The theatrics (as funny as they sometimes were to me) and the striking stylistic visuals evoke German expressionist cinema, particularly the work of Carl Theodor Dreyer, and their marriage lends a gripping power that takes hold of the viewer and pulls them into a brilliantly effective and deeply claustrophobic art horror experience that I can highly recommend not least because of Dafoe's magnificent performance, arguably a career best from the acting titan. Intense, dark and immersive psychological cinema.
