andy’s review published on Letterboxd:
A beautiful, sensual film that discusses the inevitable change to come with each new generation and the adversary reactions of those who came before. Cronenberg (as always) manages to construct his allegories with sexuality and gore in ways that improve the intensity of the subject matter, and his view on the current state of the world is reflected by his subversive implementation of horror. The film starts by subtly piquing your interest, and then it drags you into its dark, gritty world without giving you room to breathe. It transports the viewer into dystopian realm of passion that causes them to wonder how far off it is from our current society. Cronenberg’s vision never manages to fail me, and this lived up to my incredibly high expectations. Brilliant, disgusting, powerful.
