    The Swimming Pool

La Piscine, is a movie with a simple, sensual and tense story with a sexy beginning. One pool. Two lovers. Two guests. One an old acquaintance to one and a former lover to another; the other his daughter, a mystery to all. Hedonism, sensuality, eroticism, sexual longing and anxiety. The pace is slow, but this is not a bad thing, since it gives the story ample time in which to breathe and evolve.

    Apocalypse Now

There was a lot of high-quality craft that went into the making of this film, It has some superb acting performances, the visuals are astounding, and the entire third act is remarkable. So many of the images were breathtaking and iconic, the conversations between Brando and Sheen are awesome. If they had been able to maintain that level of intensity throughout the film then it would grip me more!

I think Bergman is cinema's own Shakespeare for his perceptive and compassionate view of fundamental human experiences, which he makes into films that are profound but not ponderous. There's a delightful levity to his films. Wild Strawberries is a humanist piece that suggests it is our relationships with people, rather than our accomplishments, that will come to define us in our final hour.

    L'Argent

This film expresses perfectly the affliction humanity suffers from because of it's devotion to money. It communicates at a level which is rather far beyond words and simple rhetoric, and which is easily understandable.
