Culture and Gender through Film Entry 9 of 27
My original review of this film at boxd.it/YpnBf is one of my most popular reviews, and in that piece, I talked about how this film didn't really speak to me personally, but I couldn't find any flaws in this story. Watching it a second time with a better grasp of the story, tone, and clashing of economic classes, I was even more invested in Parasite than I was last year. The acting (from what I can tell since I don't speak Korean) is fantastic, the cinematography and direction are enthralling, and the slow build-up of tension to the final moments of this film is the perfect textbook example of how to make a completely insane tonal shift make perfect sense in the context of your narrative. Watching this film again, I was invested the entire time, and I look forward to seeing this film again in the future to hopefully gain even more from it.
